    ALAN GODWIN, PSY.D      
    Dr. Alan Godwin is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Tennessee. Since 1990, he has dedicated himself to helping couples, businesses, churches, and individuals develop better ways of handling conflict. Dr. Godwin is the cofounder of Integrity Management Resources, a consulting firm specializing in strategy development, security enhancement, relational improvement, and spiritual well-being.

Certified in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Dr. Godwin has spoken on numerous topics such as depression, anxiety, boundaries, personality disorders, conflict resolution, marriage, and parent-child relationships. He has presented day-long and half-day seminars entitled: “Character Change: An Object Relations Approach,” “Rules of Engagement: How to Fight Fair,” and “People Problems: Building Bridges & Mending Fences.”

Prior to his career in psychology, Dr. Godwin spent 15 years working with a college student ministry, during which time he received a Masters in biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. He attended graduate school in Portland, Oregon, earning a Doctor of Psychology degree in 1989.

Presently, Dr. Godwin serves on the adjunct faculty of Trevecca University in Nashville where he teaches a class for doctoral students entitled “Psychodynamic Psychotherapies.” He previously taught a class for undergraduates entitled “Lifespan Development,” and he has also guest lectured in the Marriage and Family department. In 2007, Dr. Godwin’s article “Parenting with Integrity” was published in Faith and Family Values. Additionally, he pens a regular quarterly feature entitled “Ask Dr. Alan” for Deacon Magazine. He has been a guest on numerous radio and television programs across the nation. He also serves as the People and Relationships expert on bizymoms.com. Additionally, Dr. Godwin is an instructor for Cross Country Education, a national leader in high quality products and services for the entire health care industry. His seminar is entitled, “Helping Adult Clients Grow Up: Blend Object Relationships Perspectives Into Your Therapies for Stuck Clients.”

In his first book release, How to Solve Your People Problems, Dr. Godwin combines his professional expertise with biblical principles to help readers avoid conflict when possible and handle difficult encounters constructively. Dr. Godwin gives readers the tools and framework they need to handle conflict with grace, reason, and flexibility. He also explains how to deal effectively with unreasonable people. How to Solve Your People Problems will help readers successfully live and work with others, implement conflict resolution, negotiate problem areas, and create positive connections—even when people disagree.

Dr. Godwin is actively involved in his church, teaching classes and serving in various capacities. In his spare time, he enjoys personal exercise, family activities, and college football. He and his wife, Penny, have been married for 31 years and have three children.
